How to use the Temperature Converter
Type a temperature into either the Fahrenheit or Celsius field and the other field, plus the nearest UK gas mark, updates instantly. Below, the reference table covers the oven temperatures most recipes call for, from a low, slow bake to a hot oven for pizza and bread.
How do I convert Fahrenheit to Celsius for baking?
The formula is °C = (°F − 32) × 5⁄9. For a quick estimate, subtract 32, then roughly halve the result — 350°F is close to 177°C, and this calculator gives you the exact figure instantly.
What gas mark is 180°C?
180°C (350°F) is gas mark 4, one of the most common baking temperatures. Enter any temperature above to see its nearest gas mark, since gas ovens are marked in discrete numbered steps rather than exact degrees.
Should I adjust temperature for a fan or convection oven?
Most recipes are written for a conventional oven. If you're using a fan/convection oven, a common rule of thumb is to lower the temperature by about 20°C (25°F) or reduce the bake time slightly, since fan ovens circulate heat more efficiently.
